Professional Development
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is a career long process. The Division actively supports and stresses the importance of high quality, evidence based and interactive learning. The CPD Committee meets two times a year and has the mandate to coordinate and govern the organization and development of physician learning activities for the UBC Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at GF Strong.

Professional Development Activities
Province Wide Rounds
|
Province Wide Rounds occur once a month from September to June on Wednesday afternoons from 430pm to 530pm. They are presented via Zoom teleconferencing software. Instructions for signing on and the Zoom link will be emailed to division members and non division member attendees. |
CPD Academic Half Day
|
A continuing professional development academic half day curriculum is under development and will occur 1 – 2 times per year. Schedule and course content will be provided to division members as dates are established. |
Continuing Quality Improvement Rounds
|
The purpose of Continuing Quality improvement rounds is to identify and attempt to modify system level issues at GF Strong that result in adverse patient or work flow outcomes. Meetings will be conducted via Zoom for interested division members currently based at GF Strong. |
Journal Club:
|
Journal club meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month. During meetings attending members critically appraise two recent articles in the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation literature. Until further notice, future Journal Club meetings will be organized via Zoom. Login details will be sent to division members and attendees prior to the meeting. |
Department of Medicine Grand Rounds:

Once a year division members participate as presenters for the Department of Medicine Grand Rounds. Presentation details are organized by the Department of Medicine. |
Division Social Activities
Year End Division Dinner
Every Spring the Division hosts an annual dinner for all members. This dinner recognizes division members’ achievements throughout the year, congratulates the finishing final year residents, and is an opportunity for members to meet and celebrate the end of the academic year.
Division Retreat
This annual meeting is held at the Arbutus Club each year in December. It is a social opportunity that is exceptionally well catered, as well as chance to address upcoming initiatives, changes, and challenges facing the division.
Division Summer Barbeque
The division summer barbeque is hosted each summer by the resident group, usually at the Spanish Banks area of Vancouver. It serves as an annual, family friendly social event, as well as way to welcome new incoming residents to the profession
